SHADE TOLERANCE

  • Good to excellent

DROUGHT TOLERANCE

  • Soaked through first 2 weeks (3 inches)
  • Daily (1-2 inches) for second 2 weeks

  • Watering needs vary based on soil type. Once established, water heavily once every few days

MOWING

  • Ideal height: 2.5 – 3.5 inches tall

  • Every 10 days during growing season
  • Sharp rotary or reel mower
  • Never remove more than 1/3 of blade growth

  • Keep blade slightly higher than normal during Winter

MAINTENANCE

  • Apply pre-emergent herbicide in the Spring to cut down on Summer weeds

  • For yards with previous insect problems, treat lawn with broad-spectrum insecticide in the Spring

  • Apply fungicide in the Fall as this will help the grass enter colder months in healthier condition. Also treat with broad-spectrum insecticide in the Fall. If you haven’t had previous issues with Winter weeds, you can forgo herbicide in the Fall.

  • Best suited to well drained, fertile soils
