Best Time to do a Soil Test!
Soil testing is very important to any lawn. When most homeowners are considering a soil test, it’s usually because you are starting to see your lawn thin out, change in color, or even see growth stop completely.
There are times of year that are better than others to test your soil. We recommend the best time to do a soil test is in early spring. In early spring you haven’t used any spring fertilizers and this will give you a good starting base. This will give you an understanding of where your lawn is and what needs to be added to the soil.
Early Spring is recommended before we get into the very wet season. This helps with collecting a good quality sample that isn’t from soggy ground. This sample will give you a good understanding of where your lawn is and what needs to be added to the soil. By doing a soil test in the spring, this will allow your lawn to have time to properly absorb any necessary amendments throughout the growing season.
Remember, it is good to retest your soil once every year. By testing your soil once a year, you can have an idea of how healthy your soil is.
